A DOCTOR has been appointed to serve the 40,000-plus people of Kundiawa-Gembogl in Chimbu.
Dr Terence Kee will be based at the Gembogl Rural Health Centre.
He assured the people that he will do his best to provide quality health service to them.
Kundiawa-Gembogl MP William Onglo, who was at the Sir Joseph Nombri Kundiawa General Hospital, gave him keys to a new vehicle for his use and allocated K100,000 for him to start working.
Onglo thanked the Simbu health authority for posting a doctor to the district.
Authority chief executive officer Dr Francis Wandi and his management team formally installed Dr Kee as the district’s first resident doctor.
“We are rolling out curative health care which is done only by doctors in hospitals.
“It is going to be done in the district hospitals,” he said.
“Patients and their families will save time and costs of going to bigger hospitals.” Dr Wandi said doctors would also be posted to Gumine, Kerowagi and Sinasina-Yongumugl districts.
