Don’t burn money

Letters

PORT Moresby is the place for businessmen and people with top jobs.
Many moved to Port Moresby because they got jobs.
Some moved to Port Moresby assuming that they would get a free job by the help of their relatives.
Others are students who moved to study.
The population in Port Moresby is increasing rapidly each year because money is the factor that is attracting them.
More than half of the population living in Port Moresby are uneducated and don’t have a job.
People would not worry about their life, the future and their home province.
Even though life seems manageable to some point, deep inside, people are not really satisfied.
They have sleepless nights.
Selling containers of water to raise kids isn’t easy.
If you ask a vendor, he or she would tell you the truth.
The life they face is different.
Last week, there was a report circulating on social media that some Police officers burnt K820 belonging to a mother.
That is plain inhuman.
The money was forcefully taken from the mother and burnt in front of the people.
That poor mother was helpless.
She just stood and wiped out her tears.
She was selling water just to get something to eat at the end of the day.
It is very sad to see such things happening in PNG.
How can our law enforcers do that to a hardworking mother?
Besides, that burnt money was the legal tender.
The money we use belongs to the State.
It carries the image of PNG.
These police officers have slapped the State in the face.
Those who burn money should be dealt with by the law.

  • I don’t how this type of heartless police officer would feel, if someone else can do that to anyone of his female relatives.
What was the point he was trying prove by burning the cash?
