Don’t close school: Doani

THERE is no need to close schools in the National Capital District because of the Covid-19, says National Control Centre incident manager Dr Esorom Doani.
He advised schools to continue classes while strictly adhering to the new measures and, if need be, implement shift classes.
He was responding to the closure on Wednesday of the Koroboro International School after a father whose two children attend it was tested positive this week.
Doani said the father was now in isolation and contact tracing had started for his wife and children.
“We are advising the school to just decontaminate the property then resume normal classes.
“There is no need to close the school for 14 days,” he said.
“Contact tracing can be done for the confirmed case’s child’s class. But that is if the child is confirmed.”
Doani said it was different from the situation in Milne Bay where the advice to close all schools came from the provincial education board.
