Lahanis not taking Isou lightly: Moses

THE Goroka Lahanis are not taking the lowly Gulf Isou lightly heading into their Digicel Cup round-seven fixture at the Sir John Guise Stadium in Port Moresby on Sunday (12pm kick-off).
Coach Michael Moses told The National during the week that the Isou were unpredictable at times and a committed effort was needed to get the win.
Moses said the game was a crucial one for the Bintangor-sponsored side as they look to keep their finals hopes alive – the Lahanis are in 10th spot on the ladder but only a couple of points outside the six.
“We cannot underestimate Isou’s capability or judge them from previous games,” Moses said.
“They can surprise you. My side have to be on top of their game and give 100 per cent to claim victory.
“I’ve talked to them after last week’s draw with the Gurias and they know how important this round seven game is.
“There would be no room for complacency and I am expecting the boys to perform to their best.”
Moses said last week’s 14-14 draw against an experienced Rabaul Gurias outfit has given the team self-belief.
“The result against the Gurias has proven the improvement of the boy s. We want to maintain the same approach and intensity against the Isou.”
Moses said he expected his in-form forwards in Lanike Poi and Aeno Lasuwo to continue from where they left off last week.
He also commended five-eighth Absalom Lingas for his improved play and said his halves combination No.7 Joseph Karara was becoming better with each game.
Hooker Charlie Buka, who returned last week, is expected to fire with a game under his belt.
