IT was double celebrations for Megusa Brothers participating in the Morata off-season rugby league when they thrashed their opponents 21-0 in their new uniforms.
The victory is also a farewell for one of their teammates and PNG Emerging Kumul Noel John who is likely to join the Brisbane Broncos Development team next year.
It is believed that he was spotted by talent scouts during the PNG Emerging Kumuls match against New South Wales in Lae last year.
John, who is the captain of Megusa Brothers, refrained from making further comments but said he would be making a statement when all necessary documents and requirements were in place.
“Otherwise they are just rumours,” he said.
John, who had teamed up with the Port Moresby Vipers in the Digicel Cup challenge, played a pivotal role for Brothers in the Morata league competition.
He also stood in to thank PNG Gardner representative Aisop Mol and Paul James for ensuring they secured the new uniforms.
“I want to say thank you to PNG Gardner for providing the sponsorship. It also made it possible for the club to participate in the competition.
“Sponsorship is hard to come by these days and thank PNG Gardner for their support,” he said.
John said the sponsorship from PNG Gardner was a bonus. He would also appreciate support from the Megusa family.
Megusa RFLC has a proud history of providing some fine players such as Elias Paiyo, Charlie Joe, Nixon Kolo, Roy Tela, Nathan Anjo and Richard Mick.
