THE PNG Games fixtures committee, working under the host organising committee, will finalise the draws for the 28 sports this weekend to present to PNG Games Council.

Games fixtures committee chairman John Peka said they were required to submit the final fixtures by January 25 and described this meeting as an important one.

The 28 codes are: Athletics, basketball, bodybuilding, boxing, cricket, darts, golf, lawn bowls, hockey, karate, kickboxing, netball, powerlifting, rugby league nines, rugby union sevens, Australian Rules Football, snooker, soccer, softball, taekwando, touch football, volleyball, weightlifting, canoeing, squash, beach volleyball, swimming and archery. Peka said information to finalise the fixtures would come from the team of technical officials in referees and linesmen.

Two meetings were held last year and attended by executives of the 28 sports.

“We run the games and this meeting is important as time is against us,” Peka said.

“Many of the executives are in the dark as to what is happening.”

The meeting will be held at the host organising committee’s conference room at the Sir Ignatius Kilage Stadium before the meeting with the PNG Games council headed by Idris Kumbrawah.

The biennial PNG Games will be held from November 16-30.
