Drivers warned to finish routes

POLICE have warned bus drivers in the city to complete their routes to avoid having their vehicles impounded and referred to traffic authorities.
National Capital District Metropolitan Superintendent Perou N’dranou said school had started this week and it would be busy in the coming months.
He said bus drivers and crews would be collecting bus fares from school children and working people in the mornings and afternoons.
“I encourage people to start identifying bus registration numbers and get photos of drivers, who break rules and police will deal accordingly with those drivers,” N’dranou said.
He said school programmes had started and all bus drivers were obliged to pick up students.
He said buses would be impounded and PMV owners referred to the road traffic authority
(RTA) to have their vehicles de-registered.
He said that NCD police would not hesitate to impound buses breaching traffic laws.
He said during the peak hours of 7am to 8am, buses from Gerehu to Boroko needed to complete their routes.
No buses should not be seen offloading passengers at the Waigani bus stop.
