CHIMBU Governor Michael Dua has dispatched various building materials to 20 different locations in Lower Koronigle local level government area in Kerowaghi District, of Chimbu, last week.
Materials ranging from roofing irons, tufa tanks, plywood sheets, power poles, beds and chairs for hospitals, tiles, bags of cement, polypipes and coffee machines were distributed.
The recipients includes churches, schools, cooperatives and communities.
Dua said people deserved the best and he was focusing on fixing basic things first as declared by his government during their swearing-in into the provincial assembly after he was elected governor for Chimbu.
“I have made myself clear that we will first focus on fixing basic things and that’s including fixing water supplies, road infrastructures, electricity supply, school and hospital infrastructures and we are delivering on this commitment.
“After we get the basic things fixed, then we will move on to look at doing bigger things,” Dua said.
He said it was a first experience for the people and various organisations to receive actual materials delivered to them instead of cash handouts which were sometimes not used for their intended purpose.
Dua commended project officer Joe Gul for purchasing and delivering all the materials in an honest and transparent manner.
“I have got more to deliver for our people in the months to come and we will continue to stick on our priorities to get basic things fixed first,” he said.
