SPARTANS’ Lynette Aua says she is keen to take up coaching as the dual international prepares for this weekend’s Greater Sepik Sevens rugby union tournament in Wewak.
The 29-year-old playmaker has represented the national women’s rugby league and sevens rugby union teams with distinction despite her small stature.
Living at the Joyce Bay settlement, the Gulf native is a role model to women and girls in her community.
During a touch awards presentation, Aua said she wanted to continue her education and become a coach upon retirement.
The Baimuru woman, who discontinued her education after doing Grade 8 at Kilakila Primary School, first represented the Papua New Guinea Palais in 2017.
Then she then switched to the PNG Orchids for the 2019 Pacific Games in Apia, Samoa, where they lost to Fiji in the nines final and settled for silver under then coach Bagelo Solien. Apart from her Spartans commitments, Aua also plays for Moresby South Rugby League team Vadavada United, who will be without her for this weekend’s crucial elimination final against 2-Mile United.
Tkatchenko is supporting her to travel to Wewak for the tournament. He said he was proud that Aua was an elite sporting ambassador of Moresby South.
