Duban welcomes investors keen in petroleum sector

PETROLEUM and Energy Minister Nixon Duban yesterday welcomed interests from global industry players keen in the country’s petroleum and energy industry.
He also assured players of the Government’s commitment towards a secured and conducive environment for their investments in the country.
Duban told participants of the inaugural PNG Petroleum and Energy Summit that the country was set to launch another major liquefied natural gas project, the Papua LNG in Gulf.
“We (Government) have strong commitment to ensure that industry participants are given fair leverage to allow them to enjoy benefits that are engrained in our physical regimes.
“We are also mindful of our landowner participation through the benefit sharing system that we enhanced through our equity arrangements.
“The difficulties that we face in this nation in terms of customary landownership and the challenges that developers like ExxonMobil and Oil Search face, they are able to manage it well regardless of what critics say about our ability to handle landowner issues.
“Unlike other resource nations, PNG is a strategic nation as it stands committed to deliver LNG business.
“We are now set to do another big project, Papua LNG.”
