DWU against change

Letters, Normal

WE would like to thank Joe Wasia for his comments in his letter “DWU yet to make its stand” (The National, April 30).
For the writer’s information, the DWU community had been against the Maladina amendment since it made headlines.
It all began when students formed a group called “DWU Patriots” as we were concerned that students were not aware of the amendment.
So we decided to invite TIPNG chairman Peter Aitsi to address the issue.
We have collected more than 1,200 signatures.
DWU president Fr Jan Czuba, vice-president academic Br Andrew Simpson and most of the SRC leaders signed the petition.
We cannot wait for the student representative council to make the move.
We walked the streets of Madang last Friday after celebrating Media Freedom Day to collect more signatures.
During the DWU Open Day on Sunday, we conducted awareness and collecting more signatures.
