DWU offers new education doctorate to boost professionalism

The Divine Word University (DWU) in Madang is offering a professional doctorate in education next year.
In a statement, the university said applications for enrolment close on Feb 1 and the first session would run from Feb 19 to 23 and the second session from July 2 to 6. “Those who possess master’s degrees can now study for a professional doctorate in education incountry at Divine Word University in Madang as of Feb, 2018,” the statement said.
“This is an innovative new professional doctoral programme DWU is offering to strengthen the professionalism in education.
“The doctor of education will be offered by the Faculty of Education through the flexible learning mode where applicants who enrol can continue working and study at the same time.”
The faculty said: “The doctor of education programme is concerned with the development and enhancement of professional practice, through the application of advanced knowledge and research findings to the issues, problems and challenges that face education professionals.
“This is a professional doctorate programme which would typically take six to eight years to complete in flexible learning mode.”
The faculty said applicants would have completed a master’s degree in education or equivalent, with an average grade of a credit or higher.
Costs include a K100 application fee and K5000 per semester.
