Eagles, Souths to face off in uni grand final

THE SBA Eagles and Souths Arts Warriors are set for the University of Papua New Guinea Rugby League grand final on Saturday.
The Eagles and Warriors beat BBM Nokondi and Veari Spiders in the semifinals yesterday at the University Oval.
The Eagles booked the first grand final birth after upsetting Nokondi 12-8 in the first game followed by Warriors who beat the Spiders 14-4.
SP PNG Hunters coach Michael Marum watched the games with his presence acknowledged by league president Sandis Tsaka Jr.
The Warriors took a 14-0 lead at halftime against the Spiders and kept the defensive pressure on frustrating the opposition into mistakes in the second 40 minutes although they did let a try through.
Tsaka Jr commended the Warriors and Eagles for making the final and for being the best sides in their 20-team competition.
He also thanked the other 18 teams who have been part of the competition and said the future of the league boded well with the number of teams and fans that came out to support every week.
