Falcons edge Rats in Suburban playoffs

PORT Moresby Suburban Rugby League minor premiers Killiton Falcons booked the first major semifinal spot after beating Marane K-Rats 5-4 in the top four playoff on Saturday.
Falcons managed to edge the Rats in a tough yet entertaining match that was locked at 4-4 until late in the second half at Kone Tigers Oval.
The Rats will make use of a second chance when they play the winner of the bottom four playoff.
In the bottom four playoffs, Talapia Magpies and Toks Mix Nest advanced to the semifinal qualifier after beating Waliya and Helifix Warriors.
Magpies edged Waliya 18-16 while the Nest beat Warriors 8-4.
Nest play the Rats in the first match and Magpies play the loser of Mountain Bulls-54 Bears top four fixture which was played yesterday.
The Toks Mix Nest, who finished in eighth spot at the end of the regular season, the clash against the Rats will be their third finals match on their road to an unlikely grand final.
The Port Moresby Suburban Rugby League is one of four leagues in the National Capital District that run regular season competitions.
