Earthquake is not punishment

Letters

GOD is not angry with Papua New Guinea simply because the Papua New Guinea team at the United Nations voted against Israel.
God doesn’t think like me nor does he act like us as his ways are higher than our ways.
The same air that we are breathing is the same air that murderers and criminals are breathing in jails around the world.
We must not make our conclusions outside the Bible.
We must only act and talk within the written word of God.
Having said that, let’s see what Jesus said regarding similar cases in his time on Earth.
In the Gospel of Luke, Chapter 9, we see that Jesus was rejected by the Samaritans and on verse 54, disciples James and John saw that and they were furious, asking: “Lord, do you want us to call fire down from heaven to destroy them[a]?”
That’s exactly what most Papua New Guineans are thinking now that God destroyed Southern Highlands and Hela because of Papua New Guinea’s vote against Israel.
In the next two verses down, Jesus rebuked them and told them the he (the Christ) came not to destroy men but to save them.
This means that God will never destroy men or women or children.
I heard some people are saying that up in the Highlands they are rebellious people, they are wicked, blaming tribal fights, etc.
Let’s see what Jesus said of this in Luke 13.
“Now there were some present at that time who told Jesus about the Galileans whose blood Pilate had mixed with their sacrifices. Jesus answered: ‘Do you think that these Galileans were worse sinners than all the other Galileans because they suffered this way? I tell you, no! But unless you repent, you too will all perish. Or those eighteen who died when the tower in Siloam fell on them – do you think they were more guilty than all the others living in Jerusalem? I tell you, no! But unless you repent, you too will all perish’.”
The victims of the earthquake were not killed by God.
God doesn’t behave that like that.
His word, the Bible, says so with the stories we have seen.
Then what caused the earthquake of such magnitude and devastation?
Let’s look at what is happening in that area.
Yes, oil and gas. This is my opinion: Fracking caused the earthquake.
What is fracking then? It is the process of injecting liquid at high pressure into subterranean rocks so as to force open existing fissures and extract oil or gas.
God did not destroy PNG.
