THE Eastern Highlands Kickboxing Association is preparing to host its championship in April.
The Peter Numu Kickboxing Championship will attract teams from the eight districts of Eastern Highlands and neighbouring provinces, says association president Kaupa Omena, pictured.
Kaupa said it was the first time in many years for a governor to recognise and sponsor the championship, which will be staged at the National Sports Institute in Goroka from April 12-14.
“Invitations will be sent to the eight districts of Eastern Highlands — Daulo, Goroka, Unggai-Bena, Lufa, Henganofi, Okapa, Kainantu and Obura-Wonenara,” Omena said.
“Invitations will also be sent to Chimbu, Jiwaka, Western Highlands, Enga, Hela, Southern Highlands, Morobe, Madang, East Sepik and National Capital District to participate.”
Main bouts (fights) that will be featured during the championship are prominent provincial fighters Joseph Amana, Aruni Hanku, Ako Murray, Moses Murray, female fighter Dausonia William, Akando Kusari, Manua ‘BJ’ Blitz and Notex Jr Ylo.
