THE Eastern Highlands assembly has passed its 2018 budget of more than K250 million.
Governor Peter Numu said the province had received K228,294,700 from the Government as grants and planned to raise K21,027,500 in internal revenue this year.
“This gives us a total 2018 budget figure of K250,027,500,” he said.
He said the grants this year had been reduced by K10 million.
“However, our internal revenue has slightly increased by 10.15 percent this year from last year’s increase in Goods and Services Tax.”
Numu said the District Services Improvement Programme (DSIP) and Provincial Services Improvement Programme (PSIP) funding remained at K10 million for the eight MPs and himself – totalling K90 million.
“All the 264 wards in the province will receive K10,000 each. Therefore I reiterate my call for teamwork to address the common needs of our people,” he said. Numu said allocations were made to cater for all the projects including those in agriculture and mining.
Support has also been given to the Ramu Two hydro-power project to develop feeder roads in Okapa, Lufa, Obura-Wonenara and Unggai-Bena districts.
