THE Eastern Papua Cup (EPC), an annual off-season soccer tournament involving the Milne Bay community in Port Moresby, has appointed a new president.
Joyce Grant, a community leader, was appointed to the post during the EPC annual general meeting in Port Moresby last weekend.
Her new executives are Sam Imatana (vice-president), George Bukoya (secretary) and Charles Diudi (treasurer).
Grant is the first woman president in the EPC’s 40-year history.
Outgoing president Bede Tomokita, in congratulating Grant and her team, said EPC had come a long way in improving good governance in soccer administration.
Tomokita said he was confident that Grant and her team would set a new benchmark for EPC.
He urged them to improve the competition, which brought together Milne Bay people living in Port Moresby since 1977.
Tomokita was president for nine years after taking over from the late Agri Watson in 2010. Prior to that, he was the vice-president.
Tomokita said he decided not to seek re-election because he wanted to pursue his dream in business management consultancy.
