Economic corridor ready to see the world

National Planning and Monitoring Minister Richard Maru says that the Government’s priority is to build roads into remote areas to tap into economical potentials.
“The government’s position is to focus on roads,” he said.
Maru was at Palmalmal to open the south coast economic corridor road in Pomio, East New Britain, last week. The 400km road will connect East and West New Britain from the Simpson Harbour in Rabaul to the border of Kandrian-Gloucester district in WNB. It will also go through five local level governments of Pomio district. Two contractors recommended by the Pomio DDA will work on the first 40km.
Maru said Pomio had the potential for economic activities.
“The district has vast potential in coffee, cocoa, copra, oil palm, tourism and fisheries.
