EDAI Town outside Port Moresby currently houses 200 families and hopes to get another 200 next year, says Edai Town Development Ltd director Kym Yong.
He said the gross development (sales) value for phase 1 and phase 2A units already constructed and handed over to buyers was valued at K80 million.
“Edai Town is blossoming into a mini Papua New Guinea as residents from different provinces live together,” he said.
“That has also attracted expatriates who recognise its uniqueness as a well-planned township.
“It is so near the capital city and yet is set in a serene environment away from the hustle-and-bustle.
“Edai Town is fast becoming a lifestyle choice in Papua New Guinea.
“Unlike other developments, we encourage interaction among our residents and we work hard to promote and instill a spirit of respect and care for the community.
“Our 4G (green gated guarded and global) lifestyle is appreciated by all aspiring homeowners who visit us on a regular basis and see for themselves that this lifestyle is indeed being practiced.
“Edai Town is geared to house two thousand families – 10,000 residents – when the three housing estates (Edai Centro, Edai East and Edai West) are fully developed over time.”
Yong said Edai Town was being developed in stages and houses were built and sold in batches.
He said the house and land packages were at the end of the day funded by home loans to the house buyers.
“Majority of Edai Town owners are first-time home buyers who are funded through Bank South Pacific’s joint initiative with the National Government in the form of the very affordable Bank South Pacific first home ownership scheme,” Yong said.
“Our houses range from entry level of K375,000 for a fully outfitted three-bedroom double storey linked house and land package to an upmarket cottage-style double-storey standalone house on a large land size for around K800,000 house and land package.”
