THE Government will start putting out tenders for Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation 2018 assets like vehicles to the public, says Finance Secretary Dr Ken Ngangan.
He said this last Friday during announcement of the close of accounts.
Ngangan said newspaper advertisements had already been put out.
He said by this week, the department would put out tenders, so people interested in buying these assets could come forward.
Ngangan said some donors of assets did not want them to be sold.
“So what we will need to do is send a report to Cabinet,” he said.
“Cabinet will decide who to allocate those assets to.
“Only those assets that have been purchased by Government through Apec Coordination Authority will go on public tender.
“We will do that before the end of the year.”
Finance Minister James Marape said sale of Apec assets would follow the normal public tender process.
“It will be through a public process for those who are interested in buying,” he said.
“I do not know but from the top of my head, Maserati is the first item.
“The assurance that we can give is that we will go on a fair price.
“The market price that is where the bid will start off.
“We want to recoup as much money as we can from those assets.”
