EDUCATION is a shared responsibility among parents, board of management, teaching staff and district development authorities, Treasurer Ian Ling-Stuckey says.
Ling-Stuckey, who is also the Kavieng MP, was speaking at the presentation of a school truck worth K111,000 to Ngavalus Primary School in Kavieng recently.
He said the Kavieng development authority had recommended Ngavalus as a pilot project to fast-track infrastructure development.
Ling-Stuckey said all stakeholders needed to fully cooperate to provide the best possible learning environment for children.
He encouraged the school to formulate details accurately of the cost and plans for its proposed classroom complex, teachers’ houses and a library and furnish them to the Department of National Planning for consideration in the 2021 budget.
Ling-Stuckey encouraged the school to manage and maintain the vehicle.

  • Minister’s dad Peter Stuckey was an educator. Peter Stuckey was very passionate about the performance standards used by inspectors who had limited vocabulary and yet inspectors had to write personal inspections report of teachers to be promoted as a lecturer at community teachers colleges. He was a colleague and scholar who trained teacher education, in-service inspectors in the late 1980s.
