Education is vital to development, change

EDUCATION should be a priority for any leader.

Leadership is about seeing a need and finding ways to address it.

MP Patrick Pruaitch assured Aitape-Lumi at the opening of St Joseph’s Primary School on Tumleo Island that “education opens windows”.

Opportunities are abundant, but without education, the backlash will be backwardness.

This is where Pascal Pandau’s letter (The National, Mar 7) fits in.

Parents are responsible for their children’s education, but the author is a lazy parent who wants leaders to lift him up so that he is not responsible to educate his children.

Aitape-Lumi is the first district in Sandaun and PNG  going back to basics, an objective-based education where  children will learn about leadership, management, scientific and technical skills. This is in contrast to outcome-based education that has led to very poor quality outputs.
