MORE than 150 contractors from National Capital District have been paid by the Education Department for their services under the rehabilitation and education sector infrastructure (RESI) programme for schools in NCD.
NCD education contractors working committee chairman William Ebenosi confirmed yesterday the department had paid about K3 million to the contractors since last month.
He said most of the money was paid to suppliers of white goods services for classrooms and teachers’ houses while genuine contractors, or those who conducted general maintenance work for classrooms and teachers’ houses in NCD, were still waiting to be paid.
“The genuine contractors are not happy but we have advised them to wait until accounts open next year,” Mr Ebenosi said.
