THE Education department has reviewed some policies to improve has it operates says Education Minister Joseph Yopyyopy.
He said the department had reviewed the Outcomes-Based Education policy and reintroduced the Standards-Based Curriculum (SBC) where all elementary schools would be turned into early childhood learning centres.
Yopyyopy said the department was now adopting 166 concepts to have grades one to three in primary schools and also introduce schools of excellence. “Under the 166 concept, grades one to six will be in primary schools and grades seven to 12 in secondary schools, this will enable us to have quality education,” Yopyyopy said.
The Wosera-Gawi MP revealed this at the opening of a new information technology and science laboratory building at the Aiyura National High School on Monday.
Yopyyopy committed K1 million to the school to purchase information technology and science equipment for its new infrastructure.
