He said the top priority of his administration was to bring the performance ranking of the province back to the top five in the country.

He planned to set up key performance indicators for each sector and programme which he expected senior officers to be guided by.
He said he wanted public servants to pull their  socks up.

He said every programme would have appropriate checklists for officers to ensure they were achieved in a timely manner and to the required standards and the areathat were found to be malfunctioning would be looked into.
Akunaii said some public servants were no longer serving the public but themselves and their cronies.
He said such practice must stop.
“I will ensure that paper projects are eliminated altogether.
“Those who have benefited financially from such mischievous schemes have seen the last of their days.”
He also will closely monitor officer abusing public funds under the pretext of delivering services.
He said officers caught in the act would be dealt with accordingly.
“If I catch them, I will not hesitate to have them arrested and takento court.”
