THE School Learning Improvement Plan (SLIP) is a guideline to help schools  improve the quality of learning, says Morobe Secondary School Standard Officer Gesengsu Aisi.
He said this after receiving a SLIP plan from the Wasu Secondary School in Morobe last Friday.
“Many schools in Morobe have completed their SLIP plans resulting in many positive results,” Aisi said.
“The SLIP plan is a strategy by the Education department to help improve schools not only on academic standards but how to manage schools.”
The plan focuses on addressing student welfare, curriculum, leadership, management, infrastructure, teachers’ professional development, community relationship and drawing up a budget to capture all the focus areas in a school.
The main challenge faced by schools is when leadership changes hands. The SLIP programme also helps schools budget funding from the TFF, DSIP and PSIP to complete school development projects.
“With the increase in student population we should also match the number of students and infrastructure development.”
