TEACHING information communication technology (ICT) skills at early stages of the educational journey is important in this current digital age, says Eastern Highlands senior inspector for basic education Mupe Kaupa.
He said many teachers are not skilled in ICT and would have difficulties teaching students.
Kaupa highlighted this while thanking Litehaus International county director Peter Raim and his team for delivering 34 desktop computers to Okiyufa and Gorohanotta Primary schools on Tuesday.
He said students should be well equipped with skills and knowledge on computers before advancing forward.
Kaupa expressed confidence in teachers to deliver the required ICT skills and knowledge with the help of Litehaus International.
“I thank Raim and Litehaus International team for not only supporting Okiyufa and Gorohanotta Primary schools but 28 other schools in Eastern Highlands,” Kaupa said. Head teachers Gabriel Mek (Okiyufa) and Harris Poave (Gorohanotta) also acknowledged Litehaus International for coming to their aid.
Mek said the computers delivered with programmed information would be worth more than K155,000.
Poave assured that teachers, students and board of management members would do their best to protect the equipment and make the best use of them.
