THE Rosso Cup Super Fours eight-ball pool competition was described as a success following Dulux Group’s 3-0 shutout of FTM Scorpions in Saturday’s grand final in Lae.
Coordinator Jonathan Cavanagh praised the involvements of team captains in working with organising committee to ensure the smooth running of matches at Aviat Social and Sporting Club.
“We entrusted the captains with the coaching of rookies and teaching of rules,” he said.
“We didn’t have any major issues as we started with 12 teams before eight of them qualified for the finals.
“We finished with the semifinals, preliminary finals and grand final.”
Cavanagh said more competitions had been scheduled with an increase in participation expected.
“It is important to manage competitions for players to gain more exposure and develop their skill,” he said.
“Morobe has lot of good players.
“In future, the more people getting involved in the sport, the better they become. Morobe has a good standard with a high skill level among players.”
Club acting president George Siki told The National that it had been smooth sailing since the start of matches with players across all 12 teams performing well throughout the competition. “The Super Fours and other competitions encourage companies to mingle with others in the club through the sport,” he said.
“We will have a bigger competition coming up.
“Hopefully, all these teams keep playing as it will be bigger and better.”
