EIGHT people were injured in a traffic accident in Manus at the weekend, police said.
Two of them, both men, were hospitalised.
Provincial police commander Chief Inspector David Yapu said two vehicles, a 10-seater and a Coaster bus collided.
“As the result of the accident, two passengers sustained serious injuries and were rushed to Lorengau hospital and admitted and six other passengers were treated and discharged,” Yapu said.
He said the driver of the bus escaped after the accident and was arrested by police on Tuesday and locked up. Yapu warned drivers not to drink and drive.
He has had several meetings with PMV owners and drivers to make them aware of the new traffic regulations.
