THE Central leg of the Coca-Cola Ipatas Cup starts today at the Papua New Guinea Football Stadium, according to Southern tournament director Simon Maima.
Maima, pictured, said eight teams would take part in the leg.
Maima said since Central rugby league officials were busy organising the trials for the Central Dabaris, he had slotted some National Capital District teams to meet the quota of eight.
“As usual, all teams will play three games each and the two leading teams in each pool will qualify for the finals on Saturday together with the NCD finals,” Maima said.
“The NCD leg saw its regular rounds come to an end on Sunday.
“Unlike the NCD leg, which had 16 teams divided into four pools, Central will only have two because they only have eight sides.”
Maima said the Central teams will have two games today and their third tomorrow, followed by the NCD preliminary finals at 1pm.
“We are expected to complete Central’s third game at 12pm on Friday,” Maima said.
“As soon as they finish, we will have the preliminary finals for NCD.”
NCD finals fixtures: Fri, Dec 21 – Paga Panthers v Erima Wanders, 54 Bears v D8 Mosquitoes, 5-Mile Watchdogs v Boarder Storm, 6-Mile Tigers v Tia Broncos.
