NO electricity means no development, says PNG Power Ltd Northern regional manager Albert Nanako.
Nanako said electricity was vital for development. But there are challenges faced in delivering this service.
He said the Bulolo District Development Authority decided to buy a crane for PNG Power to enhance the rural electrification project.
“Without a crane, PPL cannot achieve much as the workers will be unable to erect power pylons, poles and lines to connect industries, hotels, shops and bedrooms.”
Nanako also urged the district authority to support the maintenance of poles and lines in the district.
Since the inception of rural electrification in Bulolo in 2009, most households along the highway had been connected with power.
The areas yet to be connected were parts of Mumeng and Wau Rural.
The Watut project is in the pipeline including Waria.
Basil said it cost K3000 to connect one household.
“Through rural electrification, we are your friends and we will ensure all corners in Bulolo will be connected with electricity,” he said.
PNG Power Lae distribution manager Lavi Yalu said it was great to see a district buy such a vehicle to assist PNG Power’s resource capacity to deliver services at the rural villages.
