THE Sambuan Evangelical Lutheran Church congregation in Lae has raised more than K10,000 to stage its seventh Boana district conference.
Organising committee chairman Masam Som said the money was raised through a thanksgiving last Sunday at PTC.
“K10,000 and a pig were presented by Morobe Governor Kelly Naru, through the church partnership programme, towards the event,” Som said.
“K3500 came from those who attended the thanksgiving.
“The funds raised are to help the Robumi parish in the Nabak Local Level Government host the Boana district good news conference.”
Som said the Sambuan congregation came up with the initiative to support the Robumi parish.
Robumi parish president chairman Ano Mumugao said the funds raised would greatly assist the hosting community. “Ground work to set up shelters, conference center and toilet pits were all done last month,” he said.
“Our budget was K10,000 to K15,000 for the conference.”
Mumugao and Som thanked all who attended the event to support the seventh Boana District conference in Robumi parish.
