Elementary teachers

Letters

AS a former elementary school teacher, I support the letter from ‘Tok Stret’ in Wednesday’s edition of The National about pay increments for elementary teachers.
It is not a secret that elementary education is the foundation of all education.
I was a pioneer of the elementary education reform and I taught for 15 years. My first pay was K45.
I was on auto-suspension with some primary and secondary school teachers in 2012 for unknown reasons.
I even went to Port Moresby but it didn’t work out so I decided to quit teaching and so I am now back in the village looking after my 10 children and my wife. We are living a simple village life.
One my in-laws has been teaching for 12 years without pay because in the system she is noted as deceased.
