THE Moresby South Rugby League elimination final between the L&A Bulldogs and Vikings was called off because of fading light with the scores tied at 4-4 at the Sir Bill Skate Oval on Sunday.
MSRL chairman Brown Murema had to call off the match as safety became the priroty. A rematch will be on Sunday.
Murema said that golden point was not considered as it was too dark to play. He said it was disappointing as the match was contested evenly and it was anybody’s game with the final hooter to decide but it turned out to be this way because of the fading light.
The Southern Sons stopped Koki Eels 12-8 to keep their playoffs hopes alive.
Local police were present to maintain the order at the matches. In the other A grade match Koki Eels will play the Southern Sons with the winner playing Vadavada United in preliminary final next Sunday. Vikings play the L&A Bulldogs winner takes on Warako Storms.
Chairman Murema said the slowness of the matches during the course of the day had led to the lateness of the main game.
