Elite athletes to benefit

ELITE athletes living in Moresby Northeast electorate will benefit from the sport funding from the MNE joint district budget priority funds committee.
Moresby Northeast MP Andrew Mald said recently that he planned to fund the youths when they represented the country at PNG Games, national championships and international events.
If successful, Moresby Northeast will become the first electorate to support their elite athletes through such government funding, apart from the sponsorship from the PNG Sports Federation and Olympic Committee, the PNG Sports Foundation and other government statutory bodies.
Mald said he would provide incentives to encourage youths in his electorate to participate in social activities like sports to expose raw talents at high level competitions.
