Elo to challenge Moroccan for kickboxing light welterweight title

PROFESSIONAL kickboxer Bostany Elo will be competing for the World Kickboxing Federation’s (WKF) K1 Kickboxing light welterweight title (64.5kg) against current champion Samir “The Snake” Sakhi in Cameroon, North Africa this December.
Elo said promoter Donald Keyimeh from Cameron has scheduled the title fight for Dec 7 in Douala City, Cameroon, with the current title held by Moroccan Sakhi now vacant.
“The title that was held by the current champion is now vacant since there has not been any recent bouts to defend it so the promoters from Cameroon have reached out to fighters in the Oceania region and we have responded for a fight,” he said.
“I’ve been keeping fit and have been in training with my fellow fighters throughout the year and despite not having any bouts, I would really like to take up this opportunity to have a shot at this title.
“It will be a challenge in getting there with a lot of restrictions but myself and my team have been speaking with various bodies and authorities to see if we can get there,” Elo said. He added that a proposed fundraiser and championship fight was scheduled for next month in Port Moresby with fighters from the nation’s capital to take part.
“We have a number of kickboxing clubs under the banner of PNG Bird of Paradise Promotions so we want to have a few fights while raising funds for the trip,” Elo said.
