AN emotional farewell was held for the Autonomous Bougainville Government’s Health Minister Raymond Masono who passed away last Friday after a brief illness.
In attendance was Health Minister Jelta Wong, Environment and Conservation Minister Wera Mori, Bougainville President Ishmael Toroama, former Bougainville president Dr John Momis and other dignitaries who attended the service at Buka town’s United church.
Toroama described Masono as a man of principle who lived a life of service.
“Masono was a man of strong character who was loyal to the people, to the government and to his God,” he said.
“Bougainville must emulate the type of discipline and principles that he adopted through his life as a loyal servant of the public.
“The passing of Masono also signifies a change in the socio-economic dynamics of Bougainville.”
Toroama said Masono was a strong proponent of progress.
He said Masono drew the curtains on the post-conflict and peace process period on Bougainville.
