STUDENTS and teachers of Tagop Primary School in Siassi, Morobe, are in need of teaching and learning materials and are calling for donations.
The level four primary school on Siassi Island has rundown facilities and is appealing for help from authorities, businesses or individuals before the third term starts on Monday.
Siassi ward eight councillor Simon Yala said students had been sharing stationery such as pencils, erasers, rulers, exercise books and paper.
Yala said the school’s three teachers shared five grades.
The school had no toilet facilities.
He said teachers’ houses were in need of maintenance as well.
Yala said the school was established by the Lutheran missionaries on the island in 1964 before being moved to its current location in 1971.
The school caters for students in ward eight and nine covering villages of Tarawe, Gomlongon, Opai and Owongai.
