ENB race expected to attract more than 400 cyclists

Pacific Industries Limited will host its seventh Gogo Cola Bicycle Race on June 10.
Entry is K2 per person, with registration expected to close at 5pm on June 7.
According to Pacific Industries’ John Lawson, the race starts at Kalabond, Kokopo, at 9am and ends at the Hamamas Hotel in Rabaul, East New Britain.
Lawson said the race was expected to involve more than 400 participants.
He said the competitors would come from all age groups, which will include male and female.
The competition was divided into seven categories which are children (Under-12), boys (U15), girls (U15), junior men, junior women, senior men and senior women.
Children will start their race from the police station to the hotel.
Boys and girls in the U15 division will begin their race at St Joseph Primary School to the hotel.
For junior men and women, they will race from Raburua Rabweld to the hotel. For the senior divisions, they will race from Kalabond to the hotel.
“Rabaul and Kokopo urban local-level government authorities are urged to come support this event,” Lawson said.
“We will be giving away prizes which include money.”
K1,000 each will be awarded to the winners of the senior divisions.
The runners-up will each get K500. Those who finish third will collect K250 each.
The winners for the junior male and female divisions will get K500 each, second K250 and third K150.
For the U12 and U15 divisions, the winners will get bicycles.
The runners-up will get DVD players and the third-placed participants will walk away with sports kits.
