THE Enga Mioks have conveyed their deepest condolences to the family of former Papua New Guinea Rugby Football League chairman the late Don Fox who passed away in Australia on Friday.
Club chairman Philip Kepson told The National yesterday that Mioks inaugural chairman Fox had contributed immensely to establish and developing the Enga side.
Kepson said the Mioks had joined the then SP Cup in 1998 and won their maiden title in 2000 when Ela Motors, through Fox, took over as the major sponsor.
“Fox was the Ela Motors sales manager in charge of Highlands during the time,” Kepson said. “He secured the sponsorship under the Toyota brand and he was also the club chairman.
“Thankfully, under his guidance, we won our first title in that same year.
“That sponsorship lasted for 10 years until the Enga government took over in 2011. Fox had contributed immensely to the development of the Enga Mioks since the club’s establishment.
“He has the respect of the Mioks and the people of Enga.
“On behalf of the Mioks, I convey our deepest condolence to the family of the late Fox.
“PNG rugby league and its followers have lost one of the biggest supporters of the game.
“He had the passion and love for the game since he first set foot in the country.
“Fox contributed to the growth of the game.
“We thank him for what he has done.
“May his soul rest in eternal peace.”
