Enroll at LLG office: Official

PEOPLE who want to vote in the general election must enroll only at their nearest local level government (LLG) office, says Morobe election manager Simon Soheke.
People aged 18 and above who have lived in a particular location for more than six months must enroll at the nearest LLG office – not at the district or provincial election offices, he said.
“It is important that people go to their nearest LLG office or council chamber to enroll there,” he said.
“We are doing administrative work and coordination (in the provincial election office).”
There are 1,172 enrolment agents working under 1,758 enrolment committees in each ward.
The enrolment committee consists of a women’s rep, church rep and a community leader.
The committee members in each ward ensure that all enrolment information are correct.
“They verify information about an individual before it is entered in Form 11, then in the electoral roll,” he said.
Enrolment agents are carrying out updates on the ward and LLG rolls.
The deadline for enrolment is April 28 when the writs will be issued.
He said national identification cards would not be used for voting.
“Our systems are not merged with the National Identity and Civil registry. Voting in this election will be done strictly (according to) names in electoral roll,” Soheke said.
