THE Government has been urged to provide the necessary support to ensure that start-up entrepreneurs are not denied by Government red tapes.

Stone Labs country manager Samson Wena said citizens were prevented from engaging in innovative businesses by government institutions, especially regulatory agencies, statutory organisations and the bureaucracy.

“Even BSP which is owned significantly by the State has been employing a corporate culture that denies local SMEs as well as aspiring entrepreneurs with brilliant innovative business ideas”

He was speaking at the Kumul Game Changers’ Conference on Tuesday in Port Moresby.

He described the initiative by the Kumul Foundation headed by Anthony Smare as a brilliant initiative that is aimed promoting indigenous businesses.

“In fact what Kumul Game Changes is doing is what the government through the independent Public Business Cooperation should have promoted decades ago.

“Most Papua New Guineans with innovative business ideas to solve challenges presented by a revolving civilization have been denied by the very government institutions that are tasked to expand business to capture the future” he said

“The Government, both at the political and bureaucratic levels must have the decency to provide the necessary support to ensure that start up entrepreneurs are not denied by government red tapes,” Wena said.
