MALAYSIAN High Commissioner Jilid Kuminding presented his credentials to Governor-General Sir Michael Ogio at Government House yesterday.

“I assure you the government  stands ready to render all support and assistance that you may require in discharging your responsibility as high commissioner,” Sir Michael said when welcoming Kuminding

“As can be seen, there is a large potential for our relations to expand, and I am confident that with the signing of several important bilateral arrangements such as the establishment of bilateral consultations between PNG and Malaysia that will help formalise development assistance by Malaysia, which is of great value to PNG.”

Before presenting his credentials, Kuminding said Papua New Guinea had distinguished herself as a conducive trade and investment destination in the Pacific region.

“The Malaysian private sector continues to have significant presence in PNG with estimated value of investments of K3 billion since 1994,” he said.

PNG and Malaysia established relations in 1975.
