Escapee caught

 A CRIMINAL who escaped from custody while being taken to hospital has been recaptured by villagers and turned over to the police.

Western provincial police commander, Insp Silva Sika said Oklay om fled from prison warders on Sept 23 while being taken to the Ningerum Health Centre after complaining of being sick.

Wom, from Kwepe village, in Ningerum, North Fly, was jailed by the Ningerum District Court for discharging a firearm in public, being in possession of an unlicensed firearm and threatening people.
