ESP police arrest robbery suspect

POLICE have arrested a suspect who robbed a woman of 17 bags of betel nuts and K17,000 in Forok village outside Wewak town last Friday.
East Sepik commander Supt Albert Beli told The National the suspect and his accomplices, armed with knives and a wire catapult, stopped Janeth Ragi who was driving a vehicle to Wewak town.
Ragi, a betel nut trader from Turubu’s Kep village, then lodged a police report and the suspect was arrested.
Supt Beli said police had recovered K2,963 from the suspect when police raided his house in Forok the same day.
“Locals living along the highway must respect all road users, especially outsiders. They come here to trade and that helps generate income and business for locals”,he said.
“If you have nothing to do, cultivate the land for income instead of going into criminal activities. Always remember that the law will always catch up with criminals.”
