THE Evangelical Church of Papua New Guinea will be holding its annual missions awareness programme, thanksgiving and commissioning service next week in Port Moresby.
Missions’ coordinator Pr Jack Kaumana said the four-day event from July 26-29 would be held at the Gerehu local church.
Kaumana said the aim of the missions’ week was to create awareness on the work of missionaries and to encourage Christians to see their purpose in fulfilling the great commission of God as stated in Mathew 28:19-20.
He said the event was a time for Christians to give to support the work of God in missions around the world.
Speakers included the Indonesian Church National Missions director Rev Otto Kobak and ECPNG’s Rev Mark Kave, who is based in Indonesia.
Kaumana said the church hoped to raise K300,000 to send Terry Berapu and his family to Indonesia to support Kave and his family.
Money raised during the missions’ week would be used to build a church in the Wamena district of Papua.
He said Kave and his family would be serving for another three years as their term had been renewed.
He said all costs related to supporting missionaries were met by the church through this fund-raising event.
He appealed to all church members in NCD, friends and other partners in global mission to support the event.
Transport will be provided for drop-offs in the evening on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
