WHEN Christians do not witness for others to be saved in God’s Kingdom then the death and resurrection of Christ is not being witnessed, a preacher says.
Rev Jerry Mack delivered that message last Sunday at the Koki Good Shepherd Lutheran church in Port Moresby.
He based his sermon on the theme from Luke 24:48 “You are my witnesses” when addressing 45 young adults being confirmed to receive their first holy communion, two couples received marriage blessing and 14 people were baptised.
Mack said when Christians were not dedicated in having a passion to love and serve God, “then they are drawing away from God”.
“When we don’t carry out our Christian duty to be the witness of the Good News of Christ, then we are not revealing to others who are not the followers of Christ that our Lord has died and resurrected and he is crowned with glory as King today,” he said.
“The empty tomb has declared that Christ has risen and we should not fear and avoid witnessing the work that Jesus did on the cross.”
Mack told the congregation they had began a new life and journey and they should keep it holy and sacred in Christ through the power of the Holy Spirit.
“We need vibrant and healthy Christians to actively carry the cross of Jesus,” he said.
Mack said the primary role of Christians was to declare Jesus as their Lord and “any place can be the right place to witness for Christ”.
One of those who received confirmation, Sushama Barziring, a Grade 9 student of Marianville Secondary School, said she had learnt a lot in the past five months in attending confirmation classes.
She said through the power of the Holy Spirit, Christ must be the centre of her Christian faith and value in order to grow in her Christian life”.
