Evicted, feeling alienated

Letters

WHY on earth am I feeling alienated or even marginalised in my own God given land?
I am being dispossessed, betrayed by my own countrymen through covetousness and greed, being evicted and trampled upon and thrown out of my home which has been my dwelling place and abode for over 30 or 40 odd years.
The million dollar question that pops up in my mind is: Do I have a central government that cares for me or its citizens from foreign exploitation?
The laws that were framed by our forefathers and are enshrined in our Constitution, I believe, were designed for the sole purpose of protecting and empowering citizens in various areas.
Are these policies implemented?
Are those government agencies that were tasked to protect and defend us upholding and doing their mandated responsibilities?
Obviously the current answer to this issue is a fat NO. WHY?
Simple it’s not rocket science. It all comes down to one familiar word, “corruption”.
Corruption is like a contagious and incurable disease that has been eating away the very core of our, social, physical and spiritual values of Papua New Guinea society.
This short observation relates to our hard working loyal public servants here in Lae’s Morobe who were twice evicted from their respective homes, on Dec 4, 2018, and again just a week ago in November 2019.
This is a big issue and it has gone through the legal process and the relevant authorities such as the National Housing Commission, lands and other government agencies.
Please act now before it is too late or else we’ll become mere spectators in our own country.

Concerned national,
Lae
