Eviction failed, land row settled

A ROW over a piece of land at Hohola, Lots 1 and 2 sec 275 has being settled, after squatters tried to evict a private businessman who operated on the property.
The plaintiff, Issac Kuno, filed a proceeding against Clement Michael, the first defendant; Secretary of Lands and Physical Planning Romila Kila Pat as second defendant; PNG Land Board as third defendant and the State as fourth defendant.
The application for judicial review filed by Kuno in the NationalCourt was to contest the decision of the second and fourth defendants in granting of state lease land title to Michael.
Presiding judge Royale Thompson rejected the application filed by Kuno as there were no errors in the law and procedures in granting the title to Michael and ordered the plaintiff to pay the defendants’ cost on a party-party basis to be agreed or texted.
The court orders were in line with the processes of how Michael acquired the land title. Michael acquired the land through William Reid, the former recipient of the state lease land title who ran a car wrecking business on the property.
Reid, however, left PNG and Michael took over the business and continued to operate on the property.
Thompson told the plaintiff that there were no breach of process or error in the procedures followed to grant the land title certificate to Micheal.
